Now that you are on the Registered Officials List and having an approved license of the U.S. Soccer Federation, it is time to find a currently licensed Assignor. Assignors may belong to a local referee association. Assignors not belonging to a local referee association are listed on the Registered Officials List, which is updated weekly.
Local Referee Associations are independent entities and are not affiliates of Cal South or the U.S. Soccer Federation.
To help you understand your membership as a referee, here is an organizational chart:
U.S. Soccer Federation
Our National Soccer Association who establishes U.S. curriculum and guidelines for referees. They create referee registration requirements and training for all 55 State Referee Committees to follow.
Cal South
Our State Soccer Association has been appointed the State Referee Committee to administer and approve referee licenses based on the requirements of the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Cal South Referee Program
The State Referee Committee (SRC) services all national member organizations operating within Southern California (with the exception of AYSO). The SRC administers referee licensing and continued education. Disclaimer: Referees, after receiving a license, are independent contractors and are not assigned by Cal South or the Cal South Referee Program.
Local Referee Associations
Local referee associations are independent organizations and are not administered by Cal South or the Cal South Referee Program. They are listed on our website for reference only. They are in place to provide leagues, clubs, tournaments, and scrimmages with referee services, and create their own working conditions with no oversight from Cal South or the Cal South Referee Program. They are membership-based and have their own organizational protocols and procedures.
To join a local referee association, please contact them directly. You may join one or more depending on your schedule availability. Please note that local associations may require a membership fee and additional member requirements apart from your referee licensing.
