Guest Bio:
Esfandiar “Esse” Baharmast is a legend as a referee and instructor who has been involved in more than a dozen World Cup tournaments and Olympic Games, most notably at the FIFA 1998 World Cup in France, where his then-controversial penalty call was eventually vindicated by replay and named one of “The Best 18 Calls of All Time” by Referee Magazine.
At the same World Cup, he became the first American to officiate two matches in a single World Cup as a center referee. In 2020, Baharmast was awarded the prestigious Werner Fricker Builder Award by U.S. Soccer for his contributions to the game.
