Boise, ID (June 20, 2023) – Cal South teams won three regional titles this morning at the 2023 US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup at the Simplot Complex in Boise, Idaho from June 16-20. The event featured 13U-19U boys and girls, all competing to move forward to the 2023 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup, which will take place July 7-11 in Wichita, Kansas.

UPDATE 2023-06-20: FINALS action underway in Boise this morning. LAPSL has just captured the 13U Boys regional title with a 3-0 shutout over Avalanche Red of Utah. The 14U Boys of Necaxa USA also spun a shutout over their opponent, Saints Blue Premier of Oregon, 1-0. And wrapping up the morning is AVSC Storm with a 3-1 win over Utah’s MetaSport FC to take the Boys 15U title. Three wins in three finals for Cal South teams! Congratulations, boys!
UPDATE 2023-06-19: AVSC Storm won their penalty kick tiebreaker first thing this morning, moving into the semi-final round for the U15 Boys bracket. AVSC Storm then went on to shut out Arizona, 3-0 to move to Tuesday’s final. 15U Boys Downtown LA SC, 16U Girls Sporting CA USA and 19U Boys Inter-America Halcones each lost their bids for the finals in their 8:00 AM matches. In 11:00 AM (MDT) matches, LAPSL won 2-1 over Bellevue United (WA) to move to the 13U Boys final, and Necaxa USA topped Aggies FC (UT), 6-1 to grab their slot in the 14U Boys final tomorrow. Three Cal South teams in the finals!
UPDATE 2023-06-18: Cal South teams have done wonderfully today, with 9 wins and a draw against only one loss so far. Six of our teams have secured a spot in Monday’s semi-finals round, including the Ventura Surf in the BU12 bracket of the USYS Far West Regionals, being held concurrently with this event. The 15U Boys of AVSC Storm could also make it, pending a penalty kick tiebreaker shootout Monday morning to determine who moves forward.
UPDATE 2023-06-17: Cal South’s teams collected totals of 7 wins and 4 ties against only 2 losses on Day Two of Pool Play. Another 12 games tomorrow, which starts with three matches at 8:00 AM MDT.
UPDATE 2023-06-16: Cal South teams went a collective 4-6-2 in the first day of pool play action. Day Two games start tomorrow beginning at 8:00 AM MDT. Check back here for the latest final score updates.
Cal South had twelve teams in Boise over the weekend taking part in regional championship play. Ten of those teams earned their spots in the Far West Presidents Cup due to their success in the Presidents division of this year’s Cal South State Cup. Three days of bracket play lead off the event, with semi-finals on Monday, June 19th, and the finals round on Tuesday, June 20th.
This year the following teams will advance to the National Presidents Cup:
- 13U-18U: Both Champion & Finalist
- 19U: Champion only
The 2023 Far West Regional Championships for the 12U boys and girls were held alongside the Presidents Cup Regionals, with these teams competing for the regional title. (This is the top honor for this age group. They do not continue to Nationals.) Cal South had two 12U boys’ teams competing for a Far West Regional title this year.

The 13U to 19U brackets for the US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals (part of the National Championship Series) will also take place in Boise, Idaho starting this Friday from June 23-29, 2023.
