Mesa, Arizona (Friday, January 3, 2025) – Fourteen talented Cal South Pro+ ODP teams take the field today as they begin competing for a 2025 US Youth Soccer Far West ODP Championship title at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Arizona. The tournament is scheduled to take place January 3-6, 2025.
With its 14 teams built out of some of the best and brightest young elite players, Cal South is hoping to build on its incredible legacy at the annual ODP championships at both the regional and national levels. Since the ODP regional championships started, Cal South has won an astounding 116 Far West ODP titles, which have led to 38 national ODP championships overall.
Three days of play featured two tiers of teams from the 14 states that make up U.S. Soccer’s Far Western region culminates in a Semifinals round on Sunday night, Jan. 5th for select brackets and concludes with the Finals round on Monday, Jan. 6th. All 14 Cal South teams are playing in Tier 1 this year.
“I am really looking forward to this year’s Far West ODP Championships,” said Michael Chin, Cal South’s Director of Coaching Education and Player Development. “We have an extremely talented group of players and great staff to compete with not only the states within the West region, but many other states from around the country that have come to showcase their teams and players, with states like Illinois, North Texas, Michigan, and others participating in this event.
“We have a lot of top quality players and teams representing Cal South in the tournament this year to attempt to win a regional championship and be identified by regional and national staff scouts, and college coaches.”

FINALS NOTES: Cal South has 10 teams in 9 finals today. Our 13U Girls squad defeated Cal North 3-1 this morning to collect the first regional hardware of the day. In quick succession, our G15U, G17U, B14U and G14U teams then each won regional trophies of their own, making it five on the day thus far.
In the Girls 12U final, Cal South’s White and Blue teams faced off against each other, with White coming out on top, 1-0, for the sixth regional title of the day. The seventh title came via our Girls 16U team defeating Colorado, 2-1. The last Cal South match of the day (B15U vs. Washington) is just about to get underway right now!
