FULLERTON, Calif. (Monday, Nov 7, 2023) – The Cal South Pro+ Olympic Development Program (PRO+ ODP) will close 2023 with a bang as they announced their Winter Player ODP Pools for the 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 Boys’ and Girls’ age groups today for both boys and girls.

Each age group of players will train and strive to make the 18-player squads that will represent Cal South at the US Youth Soccer West Regional ODP Championships from January 4-8, 2024, at the Legacy Sports USA Complex in Mesa, Arizona. Cal South will compete with the other 13 Western states that make up US Youth Soccer’s West Region for the 2024 West Regional ODP Championships.

Cal South PRO+ ODP teams have won an astounding 112 USYS ODP West Regional Championships for which it has competed, adding 38 ODP USYS National Championships on top of that remarkable number.

“I always put the success of our PRO+ ODP teams at these events 100% down to the fantastic clubs and coaches throughout Cal South who train these players day to day,” said Steve Hoffman, Cal South’s Director of Coaching Education and Player Development. “It is because of all their remarkable efforts in guiding and developing these players that Cal South PRO+|ODP gets an opportunity to show the rest of the country, on both a regional and national level, how rich Southern California is in soccer talent.” 

“The players who have been selected for this event have been selected from clubs in Southern California no matter what league they play in. It shows how rich Southern California is in quality youth soccer talent. Hoffman feels that “Every club, coach, and parent that has a player chosen into PRO+ ODP, and not just the players traveling to Arizona for the West ODP Championships, should be extremely proud of the job their clubs are doing with player development.” 

“We tell our players the same thing every year: ‘Performance equals success,’” Hoffman continued. “If you consistently play well and to your full potential, the results will be there.”
