RSVP now for our next Cal South
Referee Educational Webinar

Join us for our next live Referee Educational Webinar: Wednesday, January 17th from 7:00–8:30 p.m. Our special guest is Ricardo Salazar, a FIFA and MLS refereeing legend.

Ricardo Salazar has been in the top echelon of U.S. professional referees for two decades, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this webinar.

Starting out as a referee as a teenager in 1985, Salazar officiated his first Major League Soccer match in 2000. He began working as a FIFA official in 2005, and became a full-time USSF referee in 2007. Salazar served on a FIFA Panel from 2005 through 2015. He has officiated in the MLS Cup in 2011 and the MLS All-Star match in 2009, and called the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final. He worked variously as a referee, 4th official, and Video Assistant Referee throughout his career.

Salazar has also officiated many important CONCACAF Champions Cup matches, including the CONCACAF Champions Cup Semi-Final between Pachuca CF and CD Motagua, and the 2009 Pan-Pacific Championship.

Salazar has been chosen during his career to officiate numerous international matches, including several International Friendlies, but also a pair of matches during CONCACAF’s 2010 World Cup Qualifying competition. Salazar has mentioned in interviews that one of those matches, the El Salvador vs. Honduras game in 2009, stands out as one of the key moments of his career.
