Wichita, KS (July 11, 2023) – Cal South’s AVSC Storm Red won the 15U Boys title this morning at the 2023 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup, being held from July 7-11 at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas. The event features boys and girls on regional Presidents Cup champion and finalist teams in the 13U-19U age groups.

13U Boys LAPSL, 14U Boys Necaxa USA, and 15 Boys AVSC Storm each earned their spots in this year’s National Presidents Cup by capturing a regional title at the 2023 USYS Far West Presidents Cup in Boise, ID three weeks ago in June.

UPDATE 2023-07-11: Finals – In the 15U Boys final this morning, AVSC Storm captured a National Presidents Cup trophy with a 1-0 shutout of the Carol Stream Panthers Academy of Illinois. In the 13U Boys final, Necaxa USA were defeated 3-2 in their bid for a national title by Miami Lakes United of Florida. Cal South goes 1 for 3 at the National Presidents Cup. Congratulations to all three of our teams at the event, and a special shout-out to AVSC Storm for their title win!

UPDATE 2023-07-10: Semifinals – In the 10:30 a.m. matches this morning, AVSC shut out MetaSport FC of Utah, 4-0 to move into Tuesday’s 15U Boys final. AVSC has won all four of their matches thus far without giving up a single goal. In a 13U Boys semi, Cal South’s LAPSL lost 3-2 to New Jersey’s J.A.E. Academy. In the 14U Boys match, Necaxa USA defeated Azteca Academy of Kansas, 3-1, to become the second Cal South team to make tomorrow’s Finals round and aim for a national title. 

UPDATE 2023-07-09: Day 3 of Pool Play – In the noon 15U Boys match, AVSC Storm won their bracket with a perfect record after shutting out the Dragons of Eastern Pennsylvania, 3-0. AVSC will now face Utah’s MetaSport FC in a 10:30 Semifinals match Monday morning. In a 3:30 p.m. match, 14U Necaxa USA lost 3-0 to Takoma Thunder of Maryland but still topped their bracket and will play at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow against Kansas’ Azteca Academy. In the other 3:30 match, LAPSL had their third consecutive draw of pool play against BVB Int’l of Western Pennsylvania, but it was enough to launch them into the Semifinals tomorrow and a 10:30 a.m. match against J.A.E. Academy of New Jersey.

UPDATE 2023-07-08: Day 2 of Pool Play – Cal South split their morning 9:30 a.m. matches, which had been shifted from yesterday afternoon when rain forced rescheduling. Both teams – U14 Boys Necaxa USA and U13 LAPSL – will play their regularly scheduled 3:30 p.m. Day Two match for today at 6:30 p.m. tonight instead.

15U Boys AVSC Storm also had their noon match today rescheduled to 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, which they won with a 1-0 shutout of Illinois. 14U Necaxa also won their match against Illinois with a shutout, this time 2-0, while U13 LAPSL tied in their match against Wisconsin, 2-2. UPDATE 2023-07-07: Day 1 of Pool Play – U15 Boys AVSC Storm Red shut out Arkansas, 1-0 to take their first game in Pool Play matches today. The pair of 3:30 games were postponed due to rain today and will now be played Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.

Three days of bracket play lead off the event, with semi-finals on Monday, July 10, and the finals round on Tuesday, June 11, 2023.
