CAL SOUTH – US Soccer “D” Course San Diego, CA- Aug 24, 2026 – Oct 19, 2026

The U.S. Soccer National D License hosted by Cal South is an online and in-person course. This blended format combines an online experience, assignments, small group meetings, independent learning, and in-person meetings.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be register for the U.S. Soccer C course, all candidates must meet the following prerequisites:

• Introduction to Grassroots Coaching
• Two (2) Different Grassroots In-Person Licenses (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, or 11v11)
• One (1) Grassroots Online License (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, or 11v11)

OR

• Introduction to Grassroots Coaching
• Previously Earned U.S. Soccer E License

OR

• Introduction to Grassroots Coaching
• Previously Earned U.S. Soccer F License
• Two (2) Grassroots In-Person (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, or 11v11)

AND

• Coaches must have access to a team (the range is from U7 to U12) for the duration of the course

Course Experience

55+ hours (virtual + in-person meetings)

Coaches who register for this course can expect weekly learning opportunities that will feature a mixture of independent learning using online modules, live virtual meetings, and a 4-day in-person meeting led by a licensed U.S. Soccer Educator. Coaches will be asked to participate in discussions so each person should have access to the internet and a laptop/device with web-camera/live video capabilities. The virtual meetings will take place on agreed-upon days and times (see below). Coaches may be asked to participate in the in-person field component as either coaches or players, so please come prepared to actively learn.

Course Duration:

Nine (9) Weeks (Including summative assessment) with Four (4) in-person days

Course Assessment:

Formative Assessment (course assignments during the course) in

• Leadership and Managing the Environment
• Coaching Games
• Coaching Training Sessions

Summative Assessment (Final projects at the end of the course) in ·

• Coaching Training Sessions
  • Designing one (1) training session plan (with three activities in the training session plan)
  • Coaching one (1) training session (30 minutes of continuous, uninterrupted video)

Course Outcome

On successful completion of course assessment, student coaches will receive the U.S. Soccer D License

Course Policies

• Coaches that register for this course are expected to attend all course meetings and complete all assignments by due dates to be eligible to receive the license
• Coaches must have access to a team (U7 to U12) in a participation environment for the duration of the course
