US Soccer Grassroots 9v9 In-Person License

Schedule

• Virtual Zoom Session: April 24, 2026 — 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM PT
• In-Person Field Session: April 25, 2026 — 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM PT
• Field Location: La Salle Prep HS, 3880 E Sierra Madre Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107

This course is mandatory for all Cal South competitive coaches.

Course Details

The 9v9 In-Person Course is a four-hour course that builds on the principles covered in U.S. Soccer’s Introduction to Grassroots Coaching Module. Coaches will learn more about U.S. Soccer’s Grassroots Coaching Education Philosophy, Play-Practice-Play Methodology, the Tasks of a Coach, and the characteristics of players ages 11–12.

The course includes two (2) hours of classroom-based learning with a licensed instructor followed by two (2) hours of on-field coaching and observation. Coaches must attend both the classroom and field components.

Coaches will participate in discussions and should bring a notepad and pen. Coaches may also be asked to participate in the field session as either coaches or players.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Must complete U.S. Soccer’s Introduction to Grassroots Coaching module before registering
• The Introduction course is free and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete online

Assignment Requirements

To pass the course, coaches must submit the following assignments by the deadline:

• Page of Experience (completed after the field session)
• Introduction to Safe & Healthy Playing Environments
• SafeSport

Course Length: 4 hours total (2 hours classroom, 2 hours field)

Additional Information

We encourage coaches to bring grassroots players to assist with the practical training session. Please notify your educator through the course communication tool if you plan to bring a team or players.
