U.S. Soccer’s recently amended Referee Abuse Prevention Policy (RAP)will be the topic of discussion at our series of special briefing sessions to be held throughout April and early May.

This is a most important topic within the soccer world right now, and if you have ever wanted to make a true difference in the Southern California soccer community, THIS IS THE TIME to get involved. Please RSVP for one of the series of upcoming briefings that we will hold to get our referees updated and armed with the proper knowledge.

About the Referee Abuse Prevention Policy:
Cal South joins U.S. Soccer in creating a better future for our game. Their updated Referee Abuse Prevention Policy (Policy 531-9) is designed to make youth and amateur matches safer, more fun, and more empowering for everyone involved. Referee abuse will not be tolerated. We’re asking everyone to do their part by knowing the rules, reporting referee abuse, and embodying behaviors that represent the best of us.

What you will learn at these briefings:
We will discuss how the roll-out for the policy will take place, including how reporting will be done. You will learn what is expected from the Referee Associations, including assignors, mentors, referee coaches, and referees. We will have specific guidelines for referees on dealing with referee abuse/assault, including from spectators.
