FULLERTON, Calif. (Monday, Nov 14, 2022) – Cal South PRO+ is closing 2022 with a bang by announcing the ODP player pools for its 2006-2007-2008-2009-2010-2011 Boys and Girls PRO+ | Olympic Development Program (ODP). In each age group, selected players aim to make the Cal South teams that will play at the US Youth Soccer West Regional ODP Championships from January 6-9, 2023, at the Dignity Sports Park in Arizona.
Cal South will compete with the 13 other states that make up US Youth Soccer’s West Region for the 2023 West Regional ODP Championships.
Cal South PRO+ | ODP teams have won an astounding 109 USYS ODP West Regional Championships in the last nine years, years and a total of 38 ODP USYS National Championships
“I always put the success of our PRO+ | ODP teams at these events 100% down to the fantastic clubs and coaches throughout Cal South who train these players day to day,” said Steve Hoffman, Cal South’s Director of Coaching Education and Player Development.
“It is because of all their remarkable efforts in guiding and developing these players that Cal South PRO+ | ODP gets an opportunity to show the rest of the country, on both a regional and national level, how rich Southern California is in soccer talent.”
Hoffman goes on to praise the work that every club with a PRO+ | ODP Program player goes through each season. He maintains that clubs should be proud of the work being done with all players, not just with the players traveling to Phoenix for the 2023 program:
“The players who have been chosen for this event have been selected from clubs in Southern California no matter what league they play in. It shows how much talent in Southern California. All of the clubs, coaches, and parents should be extremely proud of the job the clubs are doing with player development.”
Hoffman continued: “We tell our players the same thing every year: ‘performance equals success.’ If you consistently play well and to your full potential, the results will be there.”
Cal South congratulates all the talented PRO+ | ODP players that have made the rosters for this competition and wishes them the best of luck in Phoenix!
