Bakersfield, CA (September 6, 2023) – The 2023 Cal South Labor Day Tournament was held at the Kern County Soccer Park in Bakersfield, CA over the Labor Day weekend holiday on Saturday and Sunday, September 2-3.

After two days of excellent soccer action, champions and runners-up were named in the 9U-12U, 15U, and 17U Boys age brackets. The big club winner was South Valley Surf, whose teams strode away with two titles overall.

A big shoutout goes to the Lady Pumas of Palmdale, who took part in the Boys’ brackets as there was no other Girls’ teams signed up for the tournament. An all-Girls tournament is being planned in the near future.

In all, 400 medals were distributed amongst the participants, and trophies were presented to the age group champions. The teams and attendees were able to partake of some terrific food vendors throughout the weekend, and those taking part also had the chance to attend a special pre-tournament Friday Night Movie Night where movies were presented and watch right on the field! In all, it was a grand Labor Day success!
