YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP ARCHIVE
Cal South has a storied history at the national and regional championship level, but before its teams make it to those levels, the majority of teams need to run the gauntlet of either the Cal South National Cup or the Cal South State Cup. Other teams elect to play amongst other elite teams in the US Youth Soccer Far West Regional League or National League, both of which can be used as stepping stones to the regional and national championships.
Since 2009, the Cal South State Cup now leads directly to the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup, while the Cal South National Cup has long served as the local springboard towards the US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals, and then champions there move on to the crown jewel of youth soccer, the US Youth Soccer National Championships.

Cal South State Cup has been held annually since 1978, and has also been known previously as the Cal South Open Cup.
In 2009, champions in this competition advanced to the US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup Championships. In 2010, the Cal South State Cup was broken into two separate divisions: Governors and Presidents. Only the champions in the Presidents Division (U13-U17) advance to the US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup Championships.
