Soltilo FC (13UB) and the Central California Aztecs (14UB) are all set to represent Cal South and Southern California when they travel to Westfield, Indiana for the 2018 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup that will take place July 11-15. Both Cal South teams clinched the Far West Presidents Cup title after a tough fight in Salt Lake City where 27 Southern California teams arrived to compete against the toughest teams in the region.

Aside from the two Far West Presidents Cup Championships won in Salt Lake City, Cal South teams Total Futbol Pre-Academy and Legends FC clinched the 2018 US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals 12U titles. Despite their feat, TFA and Legends do not qualify to the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series.

Soltilo FC did not have the ideal start to the competition, falling 4-1 to Northern California team Northbay Timbers. However, the match was just a wakeup call to what was yet to come, knocking in a total of 21 goals up until the final where, once again, they would face Northbay Timbers, but this time would come up on top 3-1.

The Central California Aztecs were one of the most active teams in the tournaments, finishing first of their group, scoring 17 goals and allowing only two. The tournaments competitivity proved the Southern California talent when the Aztecs faced fellow Cal South team FC Deportivo Warriors. Through a set of penalty kicks, the Aztecs came up on top 3-2.

Cal South teams proved to be the top competition in town in the Far West Presidents Cup. A total of 24 teams moved on to the tournament’s knockout round, 15 teams in Semifinals and nine teams in the Finals. The tournament saw seven Cal South matchups in the knockout phase.

Teams and their families and friends can follow these two teams through their road to nationals through our Cal South Events portal, as well as FacebookInstagramTwitter and Snapchat: @CalSouthSoccer.
