The top two teams automatically qualify to the National Championships, though both Boca Juniors OC and West Coast FC were crowned Division Champions.

“This one is extra sweet. The other teams have won the National Championship, but this league is amazing — the competition, quality, environment, everything,” Boca Juniors OC coach Jimmy Obleda told US Youth Soccer. “Because this is our first year in the National League with this team, we told our parents, ‘It’s going to be like nothing you’ve experienced before.’”

Seventeen Cal South Girls teams will take the field this weekend in the same venue, with activity beginning on Friday, March 17 and concluding Sunday, March 19.

In the 2015-16 National League season, nine Cal South teams qualified to the National Championships, coming home with two National Champions, LA Galaxy San Diego 99 and Santa Barbara SC.

Aside from the opportunity to clinch a spot in the National Championships, players are given the opportunity to be recruited and seen by college and university scouts, as well as national team scouts.
