Players from the four programs took the field to take part in the games against volunteering soccer team players from Westcliff University and the National Charities League (NCL) in Laguna Niguel. Volunteers from JUSA and others served as buddies to aid and support the players as they took part in the activities.
“This wonderful event could never have happened without the love and support of our TOPSoccer coaches and parents,” said Cal South TOPSoccer chairperson Sandy Castillo. “We would like to thank our District 5 Tournament Committee, JUSA, the JUSA TOPSoccer Committee, Cal South, and all the volunteers who donated their time to make this a reality. This was truly a place where our players got their chance to shine and show how talented they all are!”
The Outreach Program for Soccer, or TOPSoccer, is a community-based recreational program specifically designed to help athletes with physical and mental disabilities participate in soccer. Cal South has taken part of the TOPSoccer Program since 1991, bringing soccer to players who refuse to let their challenges stop them from playing the sport they love through its numerous programs throughout Southern California. TOPSoccer is an opportunity for the soccer community to come together and make a difference in the lives of all participants.
