Three Cal South players have been called to take part in the U.S U17 Women’s National Team Training Camp that began on Dec. 11 and will conclude on Dec. 16 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.

Slammers FC’s Kate Wiesner, Mia Fishel of San Diego Surf, and Isabella D’Aquila of So Cal Blues are part of the 22-player roster that will face Haiti on Dec. 13 and Dec. 15. The training camp ran by U.S U-17 WNT coach Mark Carr is being held to prepare the team for the upcoming 2018 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship that will take place from April 19-29 in Nicaragua. The top three teams of the competition will advance to the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay.

In addition to her call up, Wiesner is among the top five finalists for the 2017 U.S Soccer Young Female Player of the Year. So Cal Blues’ Ashley Sanchez was named the 2016 U.S Soccer Young Female Player of the Year, as well as the Cal South Player of the Year. Former Nomads player Luca de la Torre is also among the five finalists to earn the 2017 U.S Soccer Young Male Player of the Year. The current Fulham player was a key player in the U-20 MNT run though the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
