The 2020 Golden Valley Soccer League Spring Season kicks off this Saturday at the Kern County Soccer Park in the City of Bakersfield.
Since its inception in 2015, the Golden Valley Soccer League has been a host to the top soccer leagues and clubs in Kern County and its surrounding cities. The League offers its participants an opportunity to compete against local teams, while earning a berth into the Cal South State Cup, per the Cal South Tournament Play Guide.
Most recently, in the 2019 GVSL Fall Season, the Central California Aztecs Girls 2010/10U Team competed in the tournament, taking part of a coed age group, defeating all odds and clinched the season’s title. The team moved on to compete in the 2020 Cal South State Cup Mayors Division where they were also able to capitalize on their successes and clinch a Championship title.
Previously to their successes, another Central California Aztecs team, this time in the 9U Boys age group, clinched a GVSL title, and then went on to finish as a 2017 Cal South State Cup Governors Division Finalist. In 2016, FC Bakersfield United was one of the many teams to clinch a GVSL Season Championship, but the 13U Boys team were able to move on to State Cup Governors Division and clinch the first title for a team that started off in the Kern County-based tournament.
