It’s no secret in the youth soccer world – California has some of the best talent available in the country, which is why hundreds of college coaches from all over the country are attracted to the Cal South College Showcase, scheduled this year for May 11-12 at Silverlakes Park in Norco, Calif.
Traditionally, teams participating in the Cal South National Cup Round of 16 and Quarterfinal Rounds were the only teams allowed to participate in the tournament. However, this year’s addition will include teams from the California Regional League.
Coaches in attendance will be able to scout in the country’s soccer hotbed, with over 150 teams looking to clinch the National Cup title, as well as CRL teams looking to qualify to the 2019 US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships that will be held this year in Boise, Idaho from June 17-23.
“Being in Washington, California has some of the top soccer,” Peninsula College Women’s coach Dana Devaughn said in a previous edition of the tournament. “Being able to see a bunch of teams all in a row, only having to look at two games per hour is nice, and then just having the top-level teams.
“I’ve seen some of the best soccer I’ve seen in a long time. The top-level teams are really exceeding my expectations,” she added.
Hosting elite teams in elite play, the College Showcase allows college coaches the opportunity to evaluate each player from the Boys and Girls U15 to U17 age groups, scouting and recruiting some of the top players in the country.
