Anaheim, CA (Monday, January 27, 2025) – Cal South is pleased to announce the election of Juan Guzman Jr. to the Cal South Board of Directors for 2025, alongside current Board Chair Nick Webster, who was elected to another term.

The elections of Guzman and Webster to new three-year terms were decided following the Board balloting period which closed yesterday, Thursday, Jan. 23 at 5 p.m. PT, as part of the voting process mandated by Cal South’s bylaws. The vote was decided via online voting by the presidents of Cal South Affiliate Member leagues and clubs.

Juan Guzman Jr. serves as the current Cal South State Referee Administrator (a role he attained in 2019), and is a former FIFA and MLS referee, and current youth soccer coach. Nick Webster has served as the Cal South Board Chair since 2023, and is a former Fox play-by-play announcer, ODP coach, and author with over 30 years of experience in the Southern California scene.

“I am deeply honored to have been re-elected to serve another three-year term on the Cal South Board,” said Webster. “Over the past years, we’ve strengthened our commitment to player development, safety, and expanding soccer access across Southern California. Our vision of creating inclusive, high-quality soccer programs continues to drive our organization forward.

“I also want to congratulate Juan Guzman Jr. on his Board election and extend heartfelt thanks to Cindy Quan for her incredible years of dedicated service. Together, we will continue to grow soccer in our community, providing opportunities for players of all ages and backgrounds.”

Guzman and Webster now join the rest of the current Cal South board which includes Eric Wynalda, Tamara Cantrell, Alex Lee, Grant Nadell, and Wade Smith.

When the group convenes at next month’s Cal South Board of Directors Meeting on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, the four official Board positions – Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer – will be mutually decided upon as a group for the remainder of the coming year.

We would like to thank outgoing Board member Cindy Quan, who retired from her role, for her service, guidance, and dedication in helping to guide Cal South over the years.
