Seven Cal South alumnae were crowned NCAA Women’s Division I College Cup Champions with Stanford University on Sunday night after a penalty kick shootout with the University of North Carolina. The national title is the third for the California university.

After going scoreless in regulation time, the match then went on to over time, and then penalties. Former Eagles SC goalkeeper Katie Meyer stopped the first penalty by the Tar Heels. With a 4-4 draw, and with the possibility to win it all, Eagles SC alum Kiara Pickett knocked in the championship goal.

The Men’s Division is currently in the semifinal stage, with three former Cal South players moving on to fight for a ticket into the championship game. Virginia, Wake Forest, Georgetown and Stanford are still in contention for the Men’s College Cup title, playing the semifinals on Friday at 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm, and the final game on Sunday, Dec. 15 in Cary, N.C.
