PACIFIC COAST INVITATIONAL
Cal South PRO+ ODP is proud to announce that it will host the 2020 ODP Pacific Coast Invitational on February 14-17 in Southern California. The tournament will host the top Boys and Girls ODP teams in the country in the combine 2003-2004 and 2005 and 2006 age groups.
The 2020 tournament has been added to the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) approved events, allowing players in high school to play in the event. The upcoming tournament will incur a fee to cover game officials, fields, athletic trainers and support staff. Additionally, each player will receive a free t-shirt.
The tournament, which will be played over Presidents Day Weekend, will guarantee each team three games. Each state can bring up to 36 players, allowing players to play up. Participants will have the opportunity to display their talent in front of college coaches.
“The concept behind the ODP Pacific Coast Invitational is to give our South California PRO+ older boys and girls teams the opportunity to play games against some of the top state ODP programs from around the country,” said Steve Hoffman, Cal South Director of Player Development. “The event gives the state teams a chance to play younger players with older players, with 100% player movement and flexible rosters.”
In 2019, Cal South teamed up with Cal North, Florida and Eastern Pennsylvania for a total of 16 ODP teams that participated in the event. The Pacific Coast Invitational is expected to display some incredible competition on the pitch by many of the best, elite players in the game.
The tournament dates back to 1978, starting off as a club event, later evolving into an ODP event. The first winner of the tournament was Cal North’s U14 Hurricanes, with the trophy being donated by Washington State Youth Soccer Association.
