The 2019 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup week kicked off with a special team event that was held Wednesday, July 10 at the Charles M. Murphy Center at Middle Tennessee State University, and all five Cal South teams were present for the opening ceremony. Tournament play is set to begin on Thursday at the Richard Siegel Soccer Complex; Thursday’s schedule can be found below, and the tournament’s full schedule can be found by clicking here.
Wednesday’s event started off in the afternoon with team registration, followed by a coaches meeting thereafter. As soon as four o’clock began looming, players and their families began arriving to the university’s basketball arena. Once the event kicked off, teams were officially presented through a parade by age group, with Downtown SC (14UB), AVSC Storm Academy (14UG), Beach FC (15UG), California Rush (18UB), and Central California Aztecs (18UG) proudly representing Cal South and the Western Region.
For the remaining portion of the event, players had the opportunity to meet players from other teams, states and regions and exchange gifts and goodies that each brought from their home state before matching up with them on the field.
Cal South will continue its coverage in Tennessee through its website CalSouthEvents.com, as well as its social media outlets including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat. If you or someone you know is traveling to the tournament, encourage them to use Cal South’s Snapchat Filter and show their Cal South Pride.
