Phoenix, Ariz. (UPDATED June 19, 2022) – Six talented teams from Cal South walked away as champions today as the finals round completed play this morning at the 2022 US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup regionals at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Arizona from June 15-19.
Five of the teams – BU13 Anaheim FC, GU19 Albion SC Central Cal SM, BU14 Antelope Valley FC, BU15 Roadrunners FC, and BU18 North Valley SC Breakaway – won regional titles in the USYS Presidents Cup Series, and will next move on to the 2022 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup from July 7-10 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The sixth Cal South champion – BU12 UIFC Laguna FC – won their title in nearby Scottsdale, Arizona as part of the 2022 US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals. The U12 title is part of the National Championship Series, but U12 teams do not move on to the National round, unlike their U13-U19 counterparts. The 2022 US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals actually begin play tomorrow in Boise, Idaho, which will be held at Simplot Sports Complex from June 20-26. UPDATE SUN., 6/19/2022 1:18 p.m. – BU18 NVSC Breakaway shut out Utah Development Academy, 2-0, to capture a fifth Far West Presidents Cup title (and sixth title overall) for the day for Cal South. Our teams went 6-1 on the day. Of note: All six Cal South champions today won by shutting out their opponents by two goals or less.
UPDATE SUN., 6/19/2022 12:44 a.m. – The BU19 match between RSL-AZ Yuma and Cal Elite SC was knotted up at 3-3 after regulation and overtime, but RSL eventually prevailed in PKs 6-5, denying a sixth title for Cal South on the day. Waiting for the score on the last match (BU18).
UPDATE SUN., 6/19/2022 10:40 a.m. – Cal South picked up its 5th regional title overall for the morning as Boys U15 Roadrunners FC shut out Washington’s Sound FC, 2-0. Two more finals matches to go!
UPDATE SUN., 6/19/2022 10:15 a.m. – Antelope Valley FC shut out Tuzos Academy of Arizona, 1-0, to win the Boys U14 title. Thus far this morning, Cal South has collected three Far Presidents Cup regional titles and a USYS Far West Regional championship.
UPDATE SUN., 6/19/2022 9:55 a.m. – UIFC Laguna FC has captured the Boys U12 Far West Regional Championship title by shutting out Real Colorado, 2-0, in Scottsdale. Back in Phoenix, Girls U19 Albion SC Central Cal picked up Cal South’s second Far West Presidents Cup regional title of the morning by also shutting out AYSO United of Arizona, 1-0. UPDATE SUN., 6/19/2022 7:30 a.m. – Cal South has six teams in Far West Presidents Cup regional finals this morning – BU18 NVSC Breakaway, BU19 Cal Elite SC, BU13 Anaheim FC, GU19 Albion SC Central Cal, BU14 Antelope Valley FC, and BU15 Roadrunners FC – and also has a BU12 team – UIFC Laguna FC – in today’s final for the Far West Regional championship nearby in Scottsdale. The first finals score should come in around 9:30 a.m. and then through the morning due the staggered schedule that began at 7:30 a.m.

UPDATE SAT., 6/18/2022 12:00 p.m. – GU18 Albion SC Central Cal was blanked 6-0 by Northern Utah United Tsunami, leaving just one game left for the morning – the Boys U15 semi-final – to be completed.
UPDATE SAT., 6/18/2022 11:37 a.m. – Scores from the 9:30 a.m. semi-finals matches coming in… Anaheim FC shuts out Portland City United, 7-0, to move to the Boys U13 finals round tomorrow. BU14 Antelope Valley FC also shut out Las Vegas Diversity FC, 5-0, to move on, while GU19 Albion SC Central Cal defeated Arizona’s West Valley FC, 2-1 to reach the finals. More to come…
UPDATE SAT., 6/18/2022 10:40 a.m. – BU18 NVSC Breakaway also won their match against RSL Arizona on penalty kicks , 6-5, after the game was knotted up after overtime at 2-2. Five 9:30 a.m. matches still ongoing. Updates in about an hour.
UPDATE SAT., 6/18/2022 10:22 a.m. – BU19 Cal Elite SC topped Heat FC (Nevada) in penalty kicks, 6-5 (after 0-0 regulation and overtime), to move to the finals round tomorrow. Waiting for the result of the other OT early game.
UPDATE SAT., 6/18/2022 9:48 a.m. – Semi-finals results from 7:30 a.m. games: UIFC Laguna FC moves on to the Far West Regionals Boys U12 finals round tomorrow with a 1-0 shutout of the Utah Avalanche. On the Presidents Cup side, RSL (AZ) bested Eagles SC White, 2-1, to move to the BU16 final and Nevada’s Players FC shut out Hawaiian Gardens SC, 2-0, in the BU17 match. UPDATE SAT., 6/18/2022 7:15 a.m. – Cal South has nine talented teams in the Far West Presidents Cup Regional semi-finals round in Phoenix today, with four games scheduled to begin play at 7:30 a.m. Five more games will follow at 9:30 a.m. Cal South also has a BU12 team in the semi-finals round for the 2022 National Championship Series Far West Regionals today, with that game scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m.
UPDATE FRI., 6/17/2022 10:15 p.m. – Scores from the 8:00 p.m. games: One win and three losses in this frame, with GU18 Albion SC Central Cal shutting out Colorado’s Bloomfield Blast. In the remaining Far West Regional BU12 game, UIFC Laguna FC also held a 1-0 shutout over Arizona, giving them a perfect 3-0 for bracket play. Cal South teams went 8-5-1 for the day.
UPDATE FRI., 6/17/2022 8:02 p.m. – Results from the 6:00 p.m. matches, with three more wins and a draw: BU14 AVFC shut out Idaho’s Rapids SC 1-0. BU13 Anaheim FC tops Fresno Brazil of Cal North, 3-1. BU15 Roadrunners FC shut out Idaho’s Timber-Thorns, 3-0. And in the Far West Regional match, BU12 Paramount FC drew 0-0 with Washington’s HSA Select. UPDATE FRI., 6/17/2022 11:35 a.m. – The 9:30 BU19 match was won by Cal Elite SC due to a forfeit by Montana. GU17 Central Coast Condors were shut out by Utah’s Avalanche, 5-0 but BU17 Hawaiian Gardens Eagles SC spun their own shutout, topping Helena YSA of Montana, 2-0. Cal South teams went 3-2-0 overall for the morning. Next games start at 6:00 p.m. tonight.

UPDATE FRI., 6/17/2022 8:10 a.m. – Day 3 of Bracket Play matches in Arizona. Cal South has two 7:30 a.m. matches that are underway right now (BU16 and GU14), with three more 9:30 a.m. matches (BU19, GU17, and BU17) to close out the morning. The rest of the schedule (seven more Presidents Cup and two Far West Regional BU12 matches) will pick up this evening starting at 6:00 p.m.
UPDATE THU., 6/16/2022 10:11 p.m. – Cal South closed out Day 2 going 1-2-1 in the 8:00 p.m. frame, giving them a record of 6-5-2 in Presidents Cup matches today, and 2-0-0 in Far West Regional matches. More games on Day 3 tomorrow.

UPDATE WED., 6/15/2022 9:45 p.m. – Evening scores rolling in… In the Far West Regional games in Scottsdale, both of our Boys 12U won their opening matches in bracket play. Back in Phoenix, Cal South teams captured six out of seven of their evening games, and have gone 8-3-1 for the day in the Presidents Cup overall; 10-3-1 counting the pair of Far West Regional bracket wins.
UPDATE WED., 6/15/2022 11:52 a.m. – Cal South teams are 2-2-1 through the five morning games of the opening day of bracket play. The remaining seven games for Cal South teams today are scheduled for this evening, with five games starting at 6:00 p.m. and the remaining two games starting at 8:00 p.m. The two Far West Regional matches for Cal South’s teams in the Boys 2012 age bracket will also take place this evening at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. respectively. Cal South had sixteen teams in Phoenix this week taking part in regional championship play. Fourteen of those teams earned their slots in the Far West Presidents Cup due to their success in the Presidents division of this year’s Cal South State Cup. Three days of bracket play led off the event, with semi-finals on Saturday, June 18th, and the finals round on Sunday, June 19th. The other two teams– both in the Boys 2010 age group –competed for the 12U regional title in the 2022 US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals. Each attained their position at the event through different means: one via their success in Cal South National Cup, and the other via their play in the California Regional League.
