Moreno Valley FC, L.A Wolves FC, FC Long Beach and San Nicolas are the four semifinalists that will play for the 2017 Cal South Adult State Cup Men’s Division title. The semifinal round is set to be played on Sunday, May 21, location to be determined.
In the Quarterfinal Round that was played at SilverLakes Park in Norco, Moreno Valley FC defeated Santa Ana Winds FC 2-0 in order to qualify to semifinals. The LA Wolves took it to extra time with the San Pedro Monsters to determine who the semifinalist would be. After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, the Wolves struck three goals in extra time to inch closer to the coveted trophy. The Wolves are also in contention for the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup that will kick back up May 10.
Later on that evening, LAUSC and FC Long Beach played a very tight and balanced game, with each team battling to put the ball into the back of the net. It was until a penalty kick was awarded to FC Long Beach that the scoresheet broke, giving the Long Beach-based team the berth to the semifinals. San Nicolas travelled from Oxnard and surprised a La Maquina FC team that was on fire in the group phase, defeating the Santa Ana-based club with a single goal.
