Four Cal South teams will move on to fight for a national title at the 2019 US Youth Soccer National Championships set for July 23-28 at Overland Park, Kansas, after a successful stint through the Far West Regionals in Boise, Idaho. Ten Cal South teams disputed a championship final, with a single All-Cal South match-up.
Albion SC (13UG), Rebels SC (13UB), Legends FC (17UG) and FC Golden State (19UB) will be the Far West Regional Champions that will represent Cal South at a national level. Legends IE and San Diego SC will represent Cal South in the Girls 16 and Under age group, and Legends FC South will do the same in the Girls 19 and Under age group; all three have qualified directly to the National Championships through the National League.
Cal South’s Albion SC and Legends FC matched up in the first game of the day for the Girls 13 and Under Championship final. Albion took the lead in the first half, but Legends did not back down, fighting back to a 2-2 score in regulation time. After a quiet overtime period, Albion defeated Legends 5-4 in penalty kicks.
In the Boys 19 and Under final, FC Golden State started off going down 1-0 early in the game to Nevada’s Downtown LVSC. The second half would be a turnaround period for FC Golden State as they scored three more goals for the ultimate 4-2 final.
