FC Long Beach became the first team to advance to the 2017 Cal South Adult State Cup Men’s Division Championship match after defeating San Nicolas 2-1 last Saturday evening at Aviation Park in Redondo Beach. The final is set to take place on Sunday, May 28 at SilverLakes Park in Norco, Calif.

At Aviation Park last Saturday, FC Long Beach took the lead over San Nicolas in the first half, only to have the Oxnard-based club equalize soon after. However, Long Beach was able to take back and retain the lead to be the first team qualified to the championship match.

The Long Beach team now awaits its opponent as the Semifinal match between the LA Wolves and Moreno Valley FC has been postponed due to Lamar Hunt US Open Cup action. FC Long Beach and the second finalist earn automatic qualification to the upcoming 2017 US Adult Soccer Association (USASA) Region IV Amateur Cup, scheduled to take place from June 2-4 at SilverLakes Park.
