The 2019 US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup continued bracket play on Wednesday at SilverLakes Park in Norco as teams look to advance to the tournament’s Quarterfinals. By the end of the day, the 33 Cal South teams pulled in a record of 25-5-5 (W-L-T).
In the 12U Regional Tournament, Pumas USA (B) was able to bounce back on Day 2, after taking a loss on Tuesday, by defeating Arizona’s CCV Stars in a tough 2-1 victory. Pumas USA will have to earn a victory in the last game of bracket play if they wish to move on, since their next opponent, Hawaii’s Oahu United SC, is trailing the Cal South team by one point for second place.
Oxnard United SC (13UB) maintained their strong presence on the field, and as of Day 2, have now scored a total of 15 goals, receiving five goals against. The Oxnard-based team will look to continue their strong step as they close bracket play tomorrow against Utah Development Academy.
In an exciting match-up, P2KS Chelsea A.F faced a tough opponent in SU B04 Tango from Washington State on Wednesday afternoon. Despite the Cal South team going up 4-0 at halftime, the Washington team fought back, finding game-tying goals in the second half. However, the North Hollywood team bounced back to get the ultimate 6-4 final score.
Thursday will be the final day of bracket play, with Quarterfinals scheduled for Friday, Semifinals on Saturday, and Championship games on Sunday.
