Day two of the 2019 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup continued on Friday morning with a two-hour delay due to rain on Thursday night. With the rain, the heat and the humidity on the fields played an important factor as teams looked to solidify their positions in their age group.
California Rush (18UB) took on tough toll on Friday as they fell 3-2 to DC Stoddert from Maryland. The loss keeps them at the bottom of their age group table and will likely be fighting for Third Place in Sunday’s consolation match.
Beach FC (15UG) played the comeback kids as they turned the game around and defeated Eastern Pennsylvania’s Valley SC Voodoo 2-1. Central California Aztecs (18UG) also earned three golden points as they earned a 3-0 win over CSA Monmouth from New Jersey. Both teams are strong contenders to be among the top two finalists of their age groups.
Downtown SC (14UB) claimed the top of the table after a 4-2 win over Ukrainian Nationals from Eastern Pennsylvania. With six points, Downtown has a four-point lead over their Saturday foe’s LG Celtics from Illinois. Meanwhile, AVSC Storm (14UG) can still fight to earn a spot in the championship final after falling 2-1 to Century V East from Western Pennsylvania. Saturday’s match against first place team DASC from South Dakota will determine whether AVSC will move on.
