The 2019 US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup kicked off for 33 Cal South teams and two CRL North teams on a hot Tuesday morning at SilverLakes Park in Norco, Calif. The majority of the Western states came together to begin their journey to a national title; Champions of each age group qualify and move on to the National Presidents Cup tournament that is set to take place in mid-July in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Cal South teams bared through the high temperatures, earning 24 wins, six ties and five losses by the end of the first day. National Cup Girls 12 and Under Champion San Diego Surf pulled a strong performance in the first game of the day, topping their New Mexico counterparts with a 9-0 win. LA Breakers (17UG) were 2017 National Presidents Cup Finalists and showed off that they still have it despite earning a 2-2 draw with Nevada’s LVSA. The bracket phase of the 2019 US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup will continue on Wednesday.
Teams participating in the tournament are reminded to stop by the Cal South Headquarters located by Field 16 for a pre-game and post-game snack and hydration, all courtesy of Cal South.
