Copa Sporting Clube de Portugal is a new Thanksgiving weekend tournament (Nov. 27-28, 2021) where 12U-19U players will have the opportunity to be seen by staff scouts and coaches from both Sporting Clube de Portugal and Cal South’s Pro+ Olympic Development Program [Pro+ ODP]. The tournament, open to all Cal South and So Cal teams, will allow registered teams to qualify for both Cal South State Cup and National Cup.

The tournament is the inaugural result of a new partnership between Cal South and Sporting Clube de Portugal. The primary focus of the partnership is to promote collaboration on training and development and player identification and outside opportunities for those identified. The partnership allows includes the creation of co-scouted identification camps, coaching courses, and development programs, as well as possible internship and camp opportunities for players, coaches, and teams abroad.


  • The event will be scouted by Sporting Clube de Portugal and Cal South Pro+ ODP.
  • This tournament is open to all teams in Cal South and SoCal.
  • Open to boys and girls teams in age groups 12U through 19U.
  • This event will allow teams to qualify to play in the 2022 Cal South State or National Cup.
  • This event will allow teams to become eligible to participate in the Pacific Conference of US Youth Soccer National League P.R.O. for the 2022 Season via their open application process.
  • A potential opportunity to travel and train with Sporting Clube de Portugal in the future.
  • Teams will need to be registered with Cal South AND have Cal South Fall 2021-2022 player cards.
  • The cost for teams to play is inexpensive:
    • Cost for Cal South Affiliated Teams is only $450.
    • Cost for Teams Not Affiliated with Cal South is $850 (includes Cal South player registration fees of up to 22 players).
