SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (June 21, 2021) – Four Cal South teams saw victory in the Finals matches during this past weekend’s 2021 US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup Championships.

Cal South State Cup teams in the 13U through 18U-19U age brackets, representing as Presidents Division champions, spent the week of June 16-20 battling teams from the other Far West Region state associations on the soccer fields of Salt Lake City, UT. The 12U USYS Far West Regional Championships were also being held concurrently with the Far West Region Presidents Cup, although the 12U titles are actually a part of the National Championship Series (NCS).

Cal South landed three teams in Sunday’s Far West Presidents finals, capturing two championships. Coachella FC blanked the Billings United Pink of Montana 2-0 to take the 14U crown, while the Premier SC Blue team boys captured the 13U title by defeating Nevada’s LV Sports Academy, 5-2. In the other finals match featuring a Cal South team, Simi Valley SC Eclipse were also shut out 2-0 by FC Boulder Academy of Colorado. Champions at the Far West Presidents Cup now move on to compete in next month’s 2021 USYS National Presidents Cup Championships, July 7-11, 2021 in Des Moines, IA.

The other two titles captured by Cal South teams at the event were in the 12U age bracket, featuring clubs representing the Cal South National Cup. Three of Cal South’s four 12U teams in the tournament ended up in the finals round on Sunday, with an all-Cal South final [Eagles SC vs. So Cal Blues] in the Girls 12U matchup. So Cal Blues zipped the Eagles 3-0, while Sporting CA Arsenal FC soundly defeated RSL Arizona 5-1 to grab the Boys 12U trophy.

While the Regional-winning 12U teams ended their journey in Salt Lake, the Cal South National Cup champions in the 13U through 19U-20U age groups are playing this week for a regional championship of their own at the 2021 US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships, June 21-27 in Boise, ID. From there, 13U through 19U-20U champions will move on to the 2021 US Youth Soccer National Championships being held from July 20-25 in Bradenton-Sarasota, FL. Cal South has donated the amount of $3400 to each of the 42 teams heading to both Far West Regional Championship events. The grand Regionals donation total of $142,800 is meant to help our member teams and clubs with traveling and hotel expenses on their championship journeys.
