The 2019 Cal South Adult State Cup Season wrapped up last Saturday as Buena Park FC lifted the Men’s First Division Championship after defeating Chula Vista FC 23U 3-2 at SilverLakes Park in Norco. This is the first time Buena Park FC has clinched a Cal South Adult State Cup title.

Buena Park opened up the scoresheet in the first half, going up 1-nil before halftime. Returning onto the second half, Chula Vista FC came out determined to make a comeback and they were able to equalize early on. The San Diego County team took the lead for the first time in the 66th minute of the match, but Buena Park came back a few minutes later to knock in the equalizer. Just when everyone thought the match would go into overtime, Buena Park’s Scott Locken surprised many as he scored the third and match-winning goal just seconds before the end of the match.

Golden Glove Award: Juan Flores (Chula Vista FC)

Prior to the match, Finest City FC finished as the Third-Place team, leaving Condor Cali FC in Fourth, and taking home the $1,000 cash prize.

With the conclusion of the 2019 Cal South Adult State Cup season, the Men’s Premier Division Champion and Finalist have earned automatic qualification to the USASA Region IV Amateur Cup, dates and locations are yet to be determined. Stay tuned for further details.
