Albion SC were crowned 13UG Champions in the 2019 US Youth Soccer National Championship Series after a 1-0 win over the Michigan Jaguars on Friday evening at the Scheels Overland Park in Kansas. With Albion’s win, the 13 and Under Girls Championship has been won by a Cal South team for a third consecutive year.

After three days of group play, the top two teams of the age group met for the second time in the tournament. Having matched up on Day 2 of bracket play, Albion took a 1-0 win in that game, and earned the same score in the Championship Final.

The lone goal of the Championship game came near the end of the first half after an Albion player was taken down inside of the box, with the Referee awarding a penalty kick that was converted shortly thereafter. In the second half, Albion continued their search for a second goal, but the Jaguars stood their ground and fought back until the last minute of the match.

Cal South will continue its coverage throughout the tournament through CalSouthEvents.com, as well as through FacebookInstagram, and Twitter; those in attendance in Overland Park can take advantage of the Snapchat Filter available at the venue throughout the week.
